Dust Off A Quilt Book Blog Hop Coming February 2019

I love books! I love Quilt Books! And when someone says "Dust off a Quilt Book", why of course I say ~ "SURE!"

After collecting for so long my thoughts were that I would sew ONE quilt from each quilt book I own and then give it away.

Nope, cannot do it! Give the book away that is. I adore flipping through those pages, looking at the beautiful settings and stunning work. They are always inspiring me or just keeping me busy when I am unable to sit at my machine.

The challenge is to grab one of your old books, dust it off and make something from the book! Let's do this!

The blog hop is hosted by Bea @ Beaquilter. Be sure to check out all the info HERE!

Virtual Cookie Exchange - Day 2

I must confess - I love, love, love cookie tins! And I honestly do love those sugar cookies that come inside.

Flipping through social media sites, there are always those funny memes when you think there just might be some cookies inside but instead, there is a stash of buttons, threads or other sewing supplies. Who still does that? Who's grandmother or mum had scores of buttons inside?

What about those of us that are dreaming of opening that tin and finding some cool stash but find cookies instead! What a laugh indeed!

Time to get munching on these so I have a beautiful little tin for more fun goodies to store in it!
And for a Fabulous chocolate chip cookie recipe, I've loved this one ever since Crisco started making their Butter Flavored Crisco - Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie. It is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I've seen in over 25 years!

Just to make life more fun, I would love to see what you have in your cookie tin! Enter at the Linky Party Below!
(just a side note: this a trial for me! I've not hosted a linky party before! Wish me success with it!) And don't forget to visit all the other participants this year!

The Sixth Edition of the "Art with Fabric" Blog Hop -My Favorite Color Is.....

Alida P. has some wonderfully clever themes for each of the Art With Fabric Blog Hops she hosts. The 2018 Fall Edition is no different. She has invited a team of bloggers to celebrate the love for one color, any favorite color of all time or just a color that we have been loving for the month. Autumn is definitely adorned with color, and one of my favorite for the month is orange.

As inspiration for my project I chose "White Flower on Orange" - it is a painting by Linda Woods and is sold as such or as a screen printing on other items like beach towels or pillows. Please check out her original at the link.

I love the textured look of thread painting and wanted a pillow cover with something similar. ( I am going with pillow covers from here on out - as I can keep the same pillow form and change out with the seasons).

I free-handed a flower onto notebook paper to get an idea of what my flower should look like. Then started sewing away! I used some at-hand upholstery fabrics - the color is called Cinnabar. What a lovely fall color! It reminds me of the rusty colored chrysanthemums.

I made a huge mistake by using notebook paper as my draft to sew over....Don't Do That! It does not peel off nicely! Take the time to search for your tear-away stabilizer or wait to go shopping!

This is my 2nd attempt at working with a zipper, I will keep practicing.. Wink.....

I was in high hopes of using beads as the stamens, purchased them then misplaced them so when I find them again, I will use  some Autumn-colored green beads for accents, then stuff a pillow into the form. Lovely with or with out the beads!

Enjoy the blog hop and be sure to look at all the other great Art projects going on!

"Sweet Potato Pie"

This is a repeat only because I adore it so! I've still to get it quilted but want a Just Right look for it, so saving up for a splendid quilting to suit the pattern. It is called Sweet Potato Pie designed by Shelly Wicks and Jeanne Large. You can find the pattern in Tis the Autumn Season.

Harvest Moon

Jennifer Fulton of The Inquiring Quilter is hosting a special link up October 17th, and she is inviting all of us to celebrate Halloween quilts! I will be joining her and hoping you will too!

This particular quilt is an "older" pattern of Pat Sloan's called Harvest Moon. The pattern called for words on the quilt but I left those out. You can find the pattern in Folksy Favorites published by Leisure Arts. No compensation for telling you where to find the book ;)

This is one of the very first quilts I quilted a couple of years ago and I learned LOTS from my mistakes. I didn't tie ends, no good starting and stopping points... I just had no idea what I was doing. I still love it any way! What a charming little quilt for the season!

To keep in the spirit of Giving during the season, the following is a maple leaf block donated to my local Quilting Bees. It captures the essence of autumn in just one leaf! The block was made with left over panel appliques.

Acorn

Today's Word Search Word is:
ACORN

I was browsing my book collection for some holiday inspiration and came upon the best fall project.

It is a softcover book published by Art to Heart and is full of Autumn and Halloween themes designed by Nancy Halvorsen. There are quilts, pot holders, tea towel and stitchery projects to name a few. You can still find the book at your favorite on-line shopping resource!

As My Mother-in-law likes to say, "Happy Fall Ya'll" (yep, she is from NC!)

Canning ~

I love jars, I collect them with no bias. I just love them, but I love what I put in them even more.

Today's Word in the word search.
CANNING
With the garden's abundance of cucumbers this year, pickles were put in half gallon jars instead of the usual quart and pint size. They sure are delicious! I used random spices with extra garlic and hot peppers this year to make them a little more zingy. So Yummy!

Has anyone made one of those adorable Jar quilts full of food? I would love to see them!

Here is a beginner friendly pattern from The Spruce Crafts. This one looks like the one for me!

Linking up with:

Fall Word Search Puzzle - Apple

How appropriate! When I opened my little word search book for the day! Lo and behold! A puzzle for fall! Yesterday I talked about lists. I like this list too!
My hope is to choose one word from the list each day this month to create a post on.

Apple

The apples are crisp and delicious this time of year and the markets are loaded with carts, crates and boxes. Visit an orchard in your area for some tasty treats!
Or make a quilt featuring an  apple or Apples. This quilt is  my version of  Pat Sloan's Farmer's Market. Pat hosted a wonderful quilt-along and you can find it at her website. The pattern is in her book Teach Me To Applique.
